“Mousiko Polytropo”

“Mousiko Polytropo” was created in 1994 by former School of Music Studies professsor, Ioannis Kaimakis and operated at the School of Music Studies until Prof. Kaimakis’ retirement in 2019. During this time, the ensemble appeared in several cities across Greece (Athens, Kilkis, Serres, Amphipolis, Samothrace, Eleftheroupoli, Ioannina, Xanthi, Edessa, Lefkada, Lamia etc.)

For over 25 years, “Mousiko Polytropo” constituted a key mode of transmission for Greek folk tradition, while also promoting the multifaceted work carried out at the School of Music Studies, in Greece and abroad.

In 1999, the ensemble’s work was released on CD by French label L’empreinte digital 1999 ΕD 13105.
