Τhe Ensemble for Classical Oriental Art Music “Psaltira” was founded in 2019. It is a Study Group which combines musicological research with musical practice, aiming to develop the musicianship of its members and to enable them to acquire knowledge and practical skills concerning Byzantine and post-Byzantine heritage, in the field of secular music, with a special focus on Constantinopolitan repertoire. The ensemble is vocal and instrumental, including instruments such as kanun, ud, lafta, Constantinopolitan lyre, tambur, yali tambur, bedir, ney, violin, cello a.o. Until today it has participated in several musicological and artistic events.
