Early Music

Coordination: Theodore Kitsos

The Early Music Ensemble aims at developing students’ artist skills, putting into action the theoretical knowledge offered in the School’s renaissance and baroque history classes. The ensemble works on the principles of historically informed performance and students become familiar with early music performance practices as well as the usage of musical instruments such as the church organ, harpsichord, lute, theorbo and others.

In 2018-19, the ensemble appeared in the Thessaloniki Concert Hall’s 2nd Baroque Festival, presenting the performance “Barbara’s (not so) imaginary diary”. The performance was based on the life and work of Barbara Strozzi, and was developed, produced and realised by the ensemble members.
