The 8 Songs from Asia Minor by Yiannis Konstantinidis, are small choral “one-act theatrical plays” where choral music describes and highlights moments of the daily life of Greek people who were living in Asia Minor. The traditional music material processed by Konstantinidis, comes from different regions of Asia Minor and shows the common values ​​and traditions that united all the Greeks of the region. Yiannis Konstantinidis elaborates the traditional melodies using elements of the artistic music creation of the beginning of the 20th century. and the interwar period, reducing these simple songs from a means of daily entertainment to small multidimensional musical masterpieces.

CHORODIAKO ERGASTIRI (CHOIR LABORATORY) of the Department of MUSIC STUDIES AUTh, will present this work, in the context of the 11th Scientific Conference of the Medical School of AUTh, in a session-tribute to the Asia Minor catastrophe on Friday, March 11, 2022. at the Amphitheater I -KEDEA.
The event is part of the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Medical School of AUTh.
