Musical manuscripts are presented which contain verse idioms of Ossia Cassia in the Old Parasemantic (Early Byzantine and Middle Byzantine), together with their transcriptions-explanations in the New Method by Churmuzios Chartophias. Examples of transcription on the Pentagram are given and scholarly questions that arise in the study of the works of Ossia Cassia are presented. Interpretive suggestions in the context of the Chant tradition are also discussed.
The Byzantine Music Palaeography Group “Chrysorrimon” of the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki participates. and the musicians: Demosthenes Spanoudakis, Alexia Kopsali, Brett Arjomand, Myrsini Vekiou, Haris Myrrhis Brisoni, Myrrhis Brisoni, Haris Tsobanopoulos, under the direction of the conductor.
