Thanasis Papadimitriou – Dodecameron Suite, for piano
Thanasis Papadimitriou, composition student at the School of Music Studies of the Aristotle University (Christos Samaras’s class), composed the work “Dodecameron Suite: 10 scenes and 3 intermedia” for solo piano in December 2020, after a commission by graduate student Fani Karagianni. The work is based on melodies from Christmas and New Year carols from all over Greece.
Ten out of the thirteen pieces of the suite were performed by students of the School of Music and other members of Fani Karagianni’s piano class and recorded/filmed at the School’s foyer on Saturday 12 December 2020, following all health & safety measures against COVID-19. The recording, filming and video processing was made by associate professor Costas Tsougras.
